New Craft Shop to Open On Grand Avenue

Northfield's loss is Minneapolis' gain.

Digs, a Northfield-based craft and gift shop will relocate to the former Better Than Ever space on Grand Avenue in July.

The move comes because owner Linda Schneewind wants to return to her hometown.

“It’s been a hard decision, because I love this town,” Schneewind said of Northfield. “But it’s just going to be easier for my life.”

The relocation will also bring changes in Digs’ inventory.

The store’s new location at 3800 Grand Avenue South in Minneapolis is smaller than the Northfield location. Although Schneewind will still stock craft materials, the shop will also include a larger number of handmade materials and more work by local artisans.

“The concept with the new space is, you’ll either be able to buy things to make gifts yourself,” Schneewind said. “Or you’ll buy something that somebody else made, or you’ll be able to buy something that’s been repurposed.”
