November 21st is the Great American Smoke-out. If you need one more reason to quit smoking, how about the effects of second hand smoke on your pets? Cats and dogs that are chronically exposed to second hand smoke are at higher risk of developing asthma type symptoms as well as lung and nasal cancers. In addition, curious pets have been known to eat unattended cigarettes or cigarette butts which can lead to nictotine poisoning. Consider your pets when you chose where to smoke, or better yet, why not quit?
