Oklahoma News Anchor To Join KSTP Next Month

Paul Folger, who grew up and has spent his career in the southern United States, is making his way north.

TWIN CITIES, MN — A news man who has been most of his life in the southern United States is about to make the trek north. KSTP-TV announced Monday that Paul Folger will be joining the station as a news anchor the first day of August.

"We could not be happier to welcome Paul to our news family," Anne Wittenborg, director at 5 Eyewitness News, said in a statement. "Paul’s dedication to local news and his eagerness to be a part of our community makes him a perfect fit for our team!"

Folger, an avid cyclist, runner and swimmer, grew up in North Carolina and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Asheville.

"Paul Folger brings a wealth of experience and passion for well-told stories to our newsroom," said Rob Hubbard, president of Hubbard Television and general manager of KSTP-TV.

Folger is currently a news anchor at KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He will be anchoring the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts.

"I am honored to be a part of KSTP, a station with an amazing legacy," says Folger. "I love the Twin Cities and I can’t wait to meet all of our viewers."

Folger began his career with KOCO in 2008. Prior to that, he anchored at WTEV in Jacksonville, Florida. He also was a reporter at KDAF in Dallas and was a weekend anchor for WCTI in New Bern, North Carolina.

Folger also served and news bureau chief for WHSV in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
