One Of The Last Movie Rental Stores In The Twin Cities To Close
The store will sell its remaining videos.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Yes, it's still possible to rent DVDs and VCR tapes in Minnesota, but it's getting harder year. Movies on 35th Street, which has been around for 15 years, is closing up shop in south Minneapolis.
"With the constant barrage of 'technology,' it's become apparent that movie rentals will no longer support the shop," the store wrote on Facebook.
The films at Movies on 35th Street are now for sale. The shop, located at 3447 Bloomington Avenue, will remain open during normal business hours for at least the next month.

A once booming industry, movie rental stores have become nearly extinct thanks to streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.

Blockbuster Video announced last month it will close its remaining two stores in Alaska. The last Blockbuster left standing in the U.S. is in Bend, Oregon.
