Photos: FBI Seeks Help Identifying 'Umbrella Man'
Minneapolis police previously said the "Umbrella man" sparked the riots and looting that took place in the summer of 2020.
MINNEAPOLIS — The FBI is asking for the public's help in identifying a person widely known as "Umbrella Man" in newly released pictures.
The FBI said the man vandalized a Lake Street auto parts store following the killing of George Floyd in May 2020.
Minneapolis police have previously said the man sparked the riots, looting, and general street violence that took place that summer.

In the days after Floyd's death, nearly 1,500 Twin Cities businesses were damaged by vandalism, thefts, and fire, according to the state government. Estimates of the damage exceeded $500 million.
On May 27, 2020, the "Umbrella man" was seen breaking windows at the AutoZone on Lake Street in Minneapolis and vandalizing the nearby Minneapolis Police Department 3rd Precinct, according to federal investigators.

A video of the incident went viral online at the time.
Federal agents described him as a white man who was carrying a black, opened umbrella. He was wearing a black baseball hat with a unique yellow logo with the letters L, M, Co and a black shirt with a picture on the front of it, authorities said.
According to Minneapolis police, the man spray-painted "free (expletive) for everyone zone."
The AutoZone fire was the first that firefighters responded to during the civil street chaos that lasted for days, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.
Anyone with any information on the Umbrella man is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online.
