Popular Pittsburgh Anchor Joins Twin Cities TV Station

A longtime member of the local station's evening news team will transition to a new role.

MINNEAPOLIS — Popular Pittsburgh anchor and reporter Jackie Cain is leaving WTAE-TV in Pennsylvania to join KSTP-TV in the Twin Cities. Leah McLean, who has anchored the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts for the past 13 years, will transition to an anchor-reporter role.

McLean will continue to anchor the 5 p.m. newscast.

"This is something that I have been thinking about for quite some time and I recently made the decision that I wanted to make this move. As a journalist, my first love is being in the middle of the action and seeing things as they happen up close," McLean said in a statement.

"I look forward to this new role where I can dig into issues and deliver stories that resonate with Minnesotans in our 10:00 PM newscast."

"We could not be more pleased with the addition of Jackie Cain to our evening news team," said Anne Wittenborg, the station's news director.

"Jackie is looking forward to being a part of our community and excited to join Paul Folger, Dave Dahl, Joe Schmit and Leah McLean on the air."

Cain is a graduate of West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media. She says her most memorable story was her coverage of the work of Dr. Bennet Omalu and his discovery of CTE during the autopsy of famed Steelers Center Mike Webster, which is now portrayed in the film, "Concussion."

Cain also serves on the board of the Patrick Risha CTE Awareness Foundation.
