MINNEAPOLIS — President Joe Biden will travel to Minneapolis on Sunday to attend the memorial service of former Vice President Walter Mondale. The service will take place at the University of Minnesota.

Mondale — who represented Minnesota in the United States Senate before serving as vice president under Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981 — died last April at age 93.

After losing a lopsided presidential election to Ronald Reagan in 1984, Mondale went on to serve as ambassador to Japan under President Bill Clinton.
