Rain To Soak Twin Cities Thursday, But Severe Weather Not Expected

Rain is likely for most of the day Thursday before milder and drier weather moves into Minnesota, according to the National Weather Service.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Rain will spread across the Twin Cities region Thursday morning and likely last until the evening, according to the National Weather Service.

A few rumbles of thunder are possible, but severe weather is not expected, the weather service said.

The Twin Cities will see cooler temperatures Thursday, with highs ranging from 69 to 75 degrees across the region.

At Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the National Weather Service forecast calls for showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4 p.m. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue after 4 p.m.

The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch are possible, except higher amounts could fall in thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms could linger Thursday evening, mainly before 7 p.m. Skies are expected to gradually clear overnight, with a low around 58.

Aside from another chance of rain Friday night, milder and drier weather is forecast for the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday will be sunny and breezy, with highs ranging from 75 to 84 degrees across the region. In the Twin Cities, west winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. High near 72. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Thursday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 58.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 80. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Increasing clouds, with a low around 60.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. West-northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday: Sunny and breezy, with a high near 73. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 73. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.
