The Twin Cities metro could see record cold for this time in April, according to the National Weather Service.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The Twin Cities metro could see record cold for this time in April, according to the National Weather Service.

The record for cold on the morning of April 26 in the metro is 26 degrees at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. It will get down to at least 27 degrees early Tuesday morning, according to the latest forecast.

"Lows will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal tomorrow," the NWS said. "Lows in the mid to upper 20s are more typical of mid-March."

The metro will warm throughout the week, returning to temperatures often seen in mid-April. However, there are solid chances for rain starting Wednesday and lasting into the weekend.
