Rehab Addict's Nicole Curtis Settles In Minneapolis Lawsuit
The city of Minneapolis has reached a settlement with the company owned by HGTV reality show host Nicole Curtis.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The city of Minneapolis has reached a settlement with the company owned by an HGTV reality show star. In January, the city filed a lawsuit against Nicole Curtis's company, Detroit Renovations, over a property city officials said she failed to renovate.
Curtis hosts HGTV’s “Rehab Addict,” in which Curtis buys and restores historic homes. Curtis purchased a property on the 1500 block of Hillside Avenue N. in Minneapolis for $2 in 2012. She agreed to a contract requiring her to redevelop the property into a single family home in 12 months., WCCO reported:
Court documents revealed that she failed to do so.
In January, after a years-long battle with Curtis over the home, the city of Minneapolis filed a lawsuit against Detroit Renovations, of which she acts as president.
Minneapolis said the company “failed to substantially complete the minimum improvements on the property,” and also didn’t pay property taxes or maintained insurance.
At a meeting in April, the city council agreed to a settlement with the construction company.
