Rep. Ilhan Omar Announces Endorsements In Minneapolis Mayor Race

MINNEAPOLIS— Rep. Ilhan Omar is asking Minneapolis residents to vote for both Kate Knuth and Sheila Nezhad in the race for mayor.
Minneapolis uses ranked-choice voting, which allows residents to vote for up to three candidates. Omar urged votes to rank Knuth and Nezhad and leave the third slot blank.
"Today, I am deeply, deeply proud to announce my endorsement of two incredible women candidates for Mayor of Minneapolis, Kate Knuth, and Shiela Nezhad," Omar said in a statement Monday.

"Both women are passionate defenders of the working class and steadfast public servants. Both share my vision of a better Minneapolis. A Minneapolis where every person of every background, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and white, can afford a roof over their head, has an equal stake in local politics and feels safe when interacting with law enforcement."
On Nov. 2, voters in Minneapolis will elect a mayor, new city council, tax and park board, plus decide on three key ballot questions.
