Former Gopher Hassan Mead has had an eventful week, even for someone competing at the Olympic games in Rio.

Former Minnesota Golden Gopher track and field star Hassan Mead has had an eventful week, even for someone competing at the Olympic games in Rio.
On Wednesday, the Minneapolis South High School and University of Minnesota alumnus was among the leaders in the men's 5000 meter semifinals until he was tripped up by other runners in the race. Mead fell hard, and at that point it looked as though his Olympic dreams were over.
