School Bus Driver Shot, Student Uninjured On Interstate: Police
The driver was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, investigators said.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police say a school bus driver was shot Tuesday where Interstate 94 and I-35W convene near Chicago Avenue. The driver was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
There was one student on the bus at the time of the shooting who was seated in the back of the bus. The child was unhurt during the shooting and has been reunited with family, according to police.
Just before 2:30 p.m., the Minneapolis Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol received 911 calls of a crash. Additional calls stated a man was outside of a car pointing a gun at a school bus. Subsequent callers reported that shots were being fired.

Troopers arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody and removed a weapon from him, according to investigators.

Preliminary information indicates that a school bus, contracted by Minneapolis Public Schools, and the suspect’s car collided on the freeway.

Both vehicles pulled to the shoulder and shots were fired into the bus by the suspect, police said.
Investigators are looking into what led up to the shooting.
The Minneapolis Police Department will be the lead agency on this case.
"We thank the Minnesota State Patrol for their immediate response, taking the suspect into custody and securing the firearm before anyone else was hurt," police said in a statement.
