Seen This Car? Police Search For Vehicle In Fatal Hit-And-Run That Killed St. Thomas Student

A 21-year-old woman was killed in the crash, and police say the suspect car may have significant front-end damage.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Police are asking the public to help identify a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 21-year-old University of St. Thomas student early Sunday in northeast Minneapolis.

Officers responded around 3:10 a.m. March 22 to the 1600 block of Marshall Street NE, where they found Seham Hassen with life-threatening injuries, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

She was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where she died the following day.

Preliminary information indicates Hassen was crossing Marshall Street while carrying a bag of food when she was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver did not stop.

Police are searching for a silver or gray four-door sedan believed to be involved. Investigators say the vehicle is expected to have significant damage to the front left side, including a buckled hood, a downward-facing left headlight and a missing driver-side mirror.

The vehicle is believed to travel throughout Minneapolis, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, and St. Anthony.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the department is investigating the fatal crash. MPD forensic scientists and traffic investigators processed the scene.

No arrests have been made. The case number is 26-071175.
