The Southwest LRT line would operate from downtown Minneapolis and go through St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie.
The proposed Southwest Light Rail line was given new life Tuesday after Hennepin County officials agreed to contribute an additional $20.5 million to the project.
The county's Regional Railroad Authority is already contributing $165.3 million for the Southwest LRT. The decision to contribute more came after the state legislature did not approve any state money for the project.
