Springtime Means Street-Sweeping in Southwest Minneapolis

A new video from the City of Minneapolis reminds residents that spring is also time for street sweepers to make their rounds. See it above or at YouTube.com.

How will I know when my street will be swept?

Signs - City crews will post "No Parking" signs during the morning of the day before the street is actually swept. The signs are posted at least 24 hours before the sweeping begins. The signs specify the day that street sweepers will be on that block. For street sweeping scheduled on Mondays, "No Parking" signs are posted on the previous Friday.

Phone Alerts - Minneapolis is using its Phone Alert System to notify City residents about street sweeping. Residents with listed telephone numbers may receive a telephone call the evening before their block is scheduled for street sweeping. The system will leave a short, pre-recorded message if the telephone is answered.

When can I park on my street again?
Parking is banned from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on the day a street is scheduled to be swept. "No Parking" signs will clearly indicate the day and times. City crews will remove the signs as soon as they are completely done sweeping the streets curb-to-curb. Do not park on the streets as long as there are "No Parking" signs posted and even if the street appears to have been cleared, because sweeping is completed in several stages.
