St. Anthony Fires Officer Jeronimo Yanez

The decision comes after Officer Jeronimo Yanez was found not guilty on all charges relating to the fatal shooting of Philando Castile.

The city of St. Anthony has concluded that the public "will be best served if Officer Jeronimo Yanez is no longer an officer in our city." On Friday, Yanez was found not guilty on all charges relating to the fatal shooting of Philando Castile during a traffic stop last summer. In a statement, the city said it intends to offer Yanez "a voluntary separation agreement to help him transition to another career other than being a St. Anthony officer."

The terms of this agreement will be negotiated in the near future and are not available at this time. In the meantime, Yanez will not return to active duty.
