Super Bowl Live: Free Concert Series Lineup Announced

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee Friday announced several more musical acts and a full schedule of performers who will play free concerts at Super Bowl Live.

Showcasing the Minnesota Sound and music across many genres, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have created a musical lineup with something for everyone. Brother Ali, Skylar Grey, and X Ambassadors are among the performers.

Highlights include:

• The Verizon Up Stage at Ice Mountain will formally open on Friday, Jan. 26 with Tony Award winning icon Idina Menzel performing the song “Let It Go,” from the Disney movie Frozen. After the kickoff, hometown favorite Cynthia Johnson will sing Funkytown with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis joining them on stage.
• Saturday, Jan. 27 will feature a flavor of Minnesota’s vibrant hip-hop scene with performances by deM atlaS, Brother Ali and Prof.
• Monday, Jan. 29 will be a “Salute to Prince” with performances by The Revolution, Sheila E., Morris Day and the Time, as well as a community sing-along of Purple Rain and other Prince favorites.
• Wednesday, Jan. 31 will feature performances by Dessa, Mint Condition with Stokely Williams, and New Power Generation with Andre Cymone,
• Thursday, Feb. 1 will include performances from Cobi, The Jets and Skylar Grey.
• Super Bowl LII eve on Saturday, February 2 will include an eclectic rock line-up of Bob Mould, The Suburbs, The Jayhawks, Soul Asylum and X Ambassadors.

"The Minneapolis sound, really started on the shoulders of artists from around the state like Augie Garcia, the Andrews Sisters, Bob Dylan and many others,” Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis said in a joint statement. “There's a musical thread that is woven all the way through to today. The Super Bowl LIVE concerts give us a chance to highlight and celebrate this quilt of musical genres in our home state. Whether it's Reggae, Country, Rock, R&B, Funk or Jazz It's ALL Minnesota, and we're privileged to have the opportunity to showcase the Minneapolis Sound and the music of Minnesota which is truly the music of the world."

There will be two entries to the concert viewing area; on Nicollet Mall between 8th Street and 9th Street, and on 8th between Nicollet and Marquette. All who enter the concert viewing area are subject to additional security screening, including hand-held metal detectors and bag checks.
