Traffic Agent 'Seriously Injured' In Uptown Hit-And-Run: City

MINNEAPOLIS — Authorities say a Minneapolis traffic control agent was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while working in Uptown the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 10. The 48-year-old agent, who was enforcing metered parking, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The incident happened on Hennepin Avenue just north of Lagoon Avenue just after 10 p.m., according to investigators. The driver of the vehicle left the scene and has yet to be identified, officials said.

"The accident serves as an important reminder to watch for traffic control agents," the city said in a news release.

"Agents have a dangerous job which requires them to be working in busy streets and intersections. Drivers to be patient, follow driving laws and watch for traffic control agents. Failure to do so could very well injure or kill someone."

Minneapolis police are still searching for the vehicle and driver. Anyone with information can should contact investigators. Tips are anonymous.
