Donald Trump Almost Misses Ballot in Minnesota
As of Thursday morning, Donald Trump's name was missing from Minnesota's ballot.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump might not have appeared on Minnesota's ballot if it weren't for an 11th-hour scramble by state Republicans Wednesday night.
By Wednesday evening, Minnesota Republicans had yet to submit the name of their presidential candidate, as well as their electors and alternate electors, to the Minnesota Secretary of State. The deadline for submission is Monday, Aug. 29.

As of Thursday morning, a sample ballot on the Minnesota Secretary of State website included Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, third-party anti-Trump conservative candidate Evan McMullin, and even Delta Party candidate Roque De La Fuente, but Trump's name was nowhere to be found.
Michael Brodkorb, a former GOP political operative, first broke the news on Twitter Wednesday evening that state Republicans had yet to file the necessary paperwork. He also said the party failed to elect alternate presidential electors at its state convention in March.

Again: Process for Trump to be on MN ballot. #MNGOP didn't officially elect alternate electors - trouble ahead? Yep. pic.twitter.com/oaEZQEw3AA

Brodkorb said Thursday afternoon that when the party did finally submit the names of its electors, it did so improperly.
UPDATE: Please note: No date on #MNGOP electors/alternates form. How can Downey "certify"? HUGE legal problems ahead https://t.co/aijVbTGEXj

Others chimed in on Twitter to confirm Brodkorb's report that alternate electors were not chosen at the party's state convention.
I attended MN GOP convention as a seated alternate; we didn't nominate alternate electors. MN GOP's move here is illegal. @mbrodkorb

According to the Star Tribune, a spokesman for Secretary of State Steve Simon said Thursday the filing is complete and that the Republican ticket would be listed on the ballot.
By Thursday afternoon, Trump's name appeared on the state's sample ballot.
