Twins' Joe Mauer Makes Decision On Retirement
Joe Mauer, 35, is a graduate of Cretin-Durham Hall. He made his major league debut with the Twins in 2004.

MINNEAPOLIS — It's official. Saint Paul native Joe Mauer will retire from the Minnesota Twins and Major League Baseball. The Star Tribune broke the news Friday evening.

Mauer, 35, is a graduate of Cretin-Durham Hall. He made his major league debut with the Twins in 2004, and played 15 seasons with the club.

In a surprise move during the team's last game of the season, Mauer came out in catching gear for the first time in years. The move drew a standing ovation for the local guy who has played for the Twins his entire career.
