Twins-Yankees Game: Young Girl Hit In Face By Foul Ball

Following the game, Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier called for mandatory protective netting at baseball stadiums.

The Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees paused their game for about five minutes Wednesday after a young girl was hit by a foul ball belted into the stands by Yankee Todd Frazier. Frazier covered his mouth and squatted down in dismay immediately after the foul ball left his bat.

Yankee Matt Holliday was shown wiping away tears. The young Yankee fan was at game with her grandparents.

Players on both teams knelt down and began hoping for the best as the disturbing scene unfolded.

A source told ESPN's Andrew Marchand the girl, a toddler, was hit in the face by the ball. She was given first aid at the ballpark and was transported to a local hospital, according to a statement from the Yankees. Following the game, Twins second baseman Brian Dozier called for mandatory protective netting at baseball stadiums. "I don't care about the d--- view of a fan," he said. "It's all about safety. I still have a knot in my stomach."
