Two Kids, 8 And 11, Among The Dead After Minneapolis Standoff

A total of four people were killed in an incident involving a standoff in South Minneapolis Sunday.

MINNEAPOLIS — Four people are dead after a domestic situation in Minneapolis Sunday, including two children. On Dec. 1 just after 10 a.m., officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the report of the sound of shots fired on the 2700 block of Oakland Avenue South.

Police arrived and found two kids outside, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The children were transported to a "safe location" where they were met by paramedics, police said. Both victims died.

The kids were ages 8 and 11, the Star Tribune reports.

Officers heard more gunfire coming from inside a home and set up a perimeter. SWAT personnel and negotiators arrived and numerous attempts to contact people inside the residence were made.

At about 2 p.m., a robot was deployed into the residence and located a woman's body. Police later found a man's body.

Homicide teams have been dispatched to the scene and will take over the investigation. The identities of the victims, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Minneapolis police say they are not looking for any additional suspects in this case.
