U.S. Supreme Court: Minnesota Judge On Trump's Shortlist

Anthony Kennedy's upcoming retirement from the U.S. Supreme Court is fueling speculation that President Donald Trump could tap Minnesota-based judge David Stras to sit on the nation's highest court.

Trump Wednesday said he will choose a nominee from his current shortlist of 25 candidates.

Stras graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1999. He worked as a professor for the University of Minnesota Law School from 2004 to 2010.

Stras was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court by Gov. Tim Pawlenty in 2010. Trump nominated him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in 2017.
