Video Shows Sheriff Lied, Claimed He Wasn’t Driving In DWI Crash
Dozens of records from Sheriff Dave Hutchinson's December DWI crash were released last week, including videos and photos of the scene.

MINNESOTA — Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson lied to a police officer moments after his December DWI crash, telling him he wasn't the one driving the vehicle, new video shows.
The video was among the trove of records from that crash report that were released Thursday by the Minnesota State Patrol.
Hutchinson was injured in the Dec. 8 crash while driving home from an official Minnesota sheriffs event. He was taken to Alomere Hospital for treatment. He soon after pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DWI charge and was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $610 in fees and fines.

"I’m concerned because I don’t see somebody else inside. You’re telling me you were not driving?" the police officer asked.
"No. Absolutely not," Hutchinson answered.
According to investigators, Hutchinson was driving impaired at more than 120 mph, and he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Despite calls to resign from public officials across the county and state — including Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan — Hutchinson says he has no plans to resign ahead of his fall reelection bid.
Hutchinson has apologized publicly for the DWI crash.
