Vikings Player Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI, Carrying Gun

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Vikings starting safety Jayron Kearse was arrested in Minneapolis early Sunday on suspicion of DUI and carrying a firearm without a permit.

Authorities say just before 4 a.m., a trooper watched a Mercedes drive around a barricade onto the closed portion of eastbound I-94 at Cedar Avenue.

A Minnesota state trooper stopped the car quickly it went around the barricade, according to the arrest record.

The driver of the Mercedes was identified as Kearse, 25. During the trooper’s interaction with Kearse, the trooper observed signs of alcohol impairment.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired. Kearse had a blood-alcohol concentration of .10, according to investigators. A loaded gun was also located in the car, police said.

Kearse was booked at Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of fourth-degree DWI and carrying a firearm without a permit.

ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin says the Vikings "are aware of the situation."

The Minnesota Vikings are off this weekend, because they played Thursday. Minnesota will play the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.
