Bizarre Video Shows Ice Fishers Driving Through Open Water On Minnesota Lake

A tricky video shows an SUV that only appears to be driving across a completely unfrozen lake in northern Minnesota.

Rain and temperatures in the 60s are not exactly what native Minnesotans would call typical weather for the state in February, but record-breaking warmth brought just that this week.

During the heatwave, a bizarre scene was recored on a lake in the northern part of the state Monday. Video shows a group of ice fishers riding in an SUV that appears to be driving across a completely unfrozen lake.

In reality, the vehicle was driving upon 30-inches of ice on Upper Red Lake, but rain and melted snow caused the incredible visual effect, WCCO reported.

Still, local police are cautioning against driving large motor vehicles on the lake this week, and recommended using ATVs, snowmobiles, or walking to travel across instead.
