What is This Goop In My Dogs Eye?

Does your pet have yellow or green discharge from their eyes? It could be a condition called dry eye, read on to learn more!

Have you ever heard of the condition called “dry eye”? In dogs, this condition is an autoimmune problem of the tear glands. Inflammation in the tear glands inhibits production of tears which causes the eyes to dry out. The eyes respond to this by producing a yellow or greenish mucous to try to lubricate the eye. Dogs with dry eye are prone to secondary infections and eye ulcers. If your dog has a lot of mucous in the eyes and the white part of the eye appears inflamed, it is best to see consult with your veterinarian for a diagnosis and treatment.
