Veterans Day 2019: What's Open, Closed In Minneapolis, St. Paul

Some governmental offices will be closed in Minnesota on Veterans Day.

MINNEAPOLIS-SAINT PAUL, MN — City government offices in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and elsewhere across the Twin Cities metro are closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. City offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Nov. 12.

In Minneapolis, the holiday does not affect the city’s garbage and recycling service, which maintains its normal schedule. Solid Waste and recycling’s downtown customer service office are closed Nov. 11 in Minneapolis. The city's transfer station is closed Mondays.

Minneapolis 311 is also closed Monday, Nov. 11.

Minneapolis metered parking spaces are not enforced Monday, Nov. 11, along with Park Board meters on Minneapolis parkways, University of Minnesota parking meters and meters operated by private organizations. Always read the information posted for metered parking spaces to be certain.

Police and fire emergency services are not affected by the holiday.

Here's what will be closed, and what will be open, on Veterans Day in the Twin Cities metro area:

Schools: Public schools in Minnesota will have no classes Monday.

Government: City offices in the Twin Cities will be closed Monday. County, state and federal government offices will also be closed.

Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.

Banks: Most banks will be closed. Be sure to ahead.

Restaurants, bars, liquor stores, and other businesses: Most will remain open, but be sure check hours ahead of time.
