Why do Hurricane Names get Retired?
The National Hurricane Center meets with the World Meteorological Organization and votes to banish the names of storms.

Every year, the National Hurricane Center meets with the World Meteorological Organization and votes to banish the names of storms that were so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for obvious reasons of sensitivity, according to the NHC.
If it's decided that a storm's name will be banished, the offending name is stricken from the list and another name is selected to replace it.
Which letter of the alphabet has seen the most names retired? The C's and I's have it, with nine apiece. Here's the list of all the hurricane names that we'll never see again.
