Woman Dies Days After Incident At Minnehaha Falls

The 26-year-old died from complications of drowning, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A woman has died of complications of drowning after an incident at the Minnehaha Falls last week. Deeqa Said Mohamed, 26, was visiting the area from Columbus, Ohio.

On June 17 just before 4:30 p.m., Mohamed fell facedown in the creek and her foot became stuck under a rock, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office told the Star Tribune.

She was unable to rise above the strong current. Bystanders rescued her from the water.

She was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where she died on June 23.
