Woman In Her 20s Shot, Killed At Minneapolis Apartment Building

The Minneapolis Police Department launched their 76th homicide investigation Thursday following the woman's shooting death.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department launched their 76th homicide investigation Thursday after a woman in her 20s was shot and killed. No arrests have been made.

Just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, officers from Minneapolis' Fourth Precinct responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment building on 1201 Banneker Avenue North.

Officers found the woman — who had at least one life-threatening gunshot wound — and provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived, police said. However, the woman died at the scene.

"MPD believes that there is no immediate threat to the public stemming from this incident. Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence," the city said in a news release.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the woman's identity and the cause and nature of her death.
