Women's March Minnesota Canceled After Facing '$25,000 Fine'

The march was scheduled to start Saturday afternoon.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The Women's March Minnesota event, which was set to take place Saturday afternoon at the State Capitol, was canceled late Friday. Organizers said they were facing a $25,000 fine from the Minnesota Attorney General's office "if we didn’t limit the event to 250 people, get names and contact information (for contact tracing) and 9 pages worth of other restrictions."

"Make no mistake, we are devastated and we. are. pissed," Women's March Minnesota said in its announcement on Facebook.

"Tomorrow we hope you spend the time you would have with us and join other sister marches across Minnesota."

The following marches are being held in Minnesota Saturday:

  • Alexandria — 12 p.m.
  • Bemidji — 12 p.m.
  • Brainerd — 12 p.m.
  • Cambridge — 10 a.m.
  • Fargo-Moorhead — 1 p.m.
  • Lindstrom — 12 p.m.
  • Mankato — 1 p.m.
  • Minneapolis — 5 p.m.
  • Northfield — 11 a.m.
  • St. Bonifacius — 5 p.m.
  • St.Cloud — 10 a.m.
  • Stillwater — 2 p.m.
  • Walker — 10 a.m.

The Minnesota Attorney General's Office did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.
