The deputy provided medical aid and called for backup. The injured man — a 36-year-old from Willernie — verbally identified his attacker before being taken to the hospital, according to authorities.

Authorities went to Krueger's home, set up a perimeter, and ordered anyone in the house to leave, according to the criminal complaint. Krueger's brother left the home and said he was the only person inside, according to investigators.

He also told deputies he saw Krueger — and the man who was found on the road — both walking away from the house earlier that day. Police later found Krueger near Lake Washington and took him into custody.

While being transported to jail, Krueger "made several references to stabbing" the man found on the road, according to the criminal complaint.
