2 Washington County Schools Placed On Modified Lockdown

Two students were brought to the Washington County juvenile detention center for probation violations following an incident Thursday.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Two students were brought to the Washington County juvenile detention center for probation violations following an incident Thursday. Cottage Grove police were dispatched to the area of 82nd Avenue and Joliet Avenue Thursday on a report of two young adults/teenagers that were acting suspicious. Officers said they checked the area and at one point the two males saw police and ran.

Officers saw the pair near Kingston Park and close to the schools. Police say they again ran. Officers notified the schools (Cottage Grove Middle School and Grey Cloud Elementary) and asked the schools to be placed on a modified lockdown (which consists of all the doors being locked).

All school activities continued inside the school. Officers say they did locate one of the males near the middle school and the other across the street on Indian Boulevard within minutes of calling for the lockdown.
