294 Sexual Assaults Reported at Minnesota Colleges Last Year
Out of the 294 sexual assaults reported, only 79 incidents ended with disciplinary action greater than a warning.
A total of 294 sexual assaults were reported to Minnesota colleges in 2015, according to a new report released by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. Postsecondary institutions are required to submit sexual assault data if they:
- Offer in-person courses on a campus located in Minnesota;
- Are eligible institutions as defined in Minn. Stat. § 136A.103; and,
- Have system-wide enrollment of 100 students or greater in the prior academic year.
Out of the 294 sexual assaults reported in 2015, only 79 incidents ended with the institution issuing disciplinary action greater than a warning.
Colleges
The University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus saw the most sexual assaults reported with a total of 47. Other schools with a relatively high number of reports include the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University with 21 and the University of St. Thomas with 20. Carleton College also saw 20 sexual assault reports last year.
