• Football preview: Ponies football program steeped in tradition (hometownsource.com) — Stillwater's storied Ponies football program heads into another season backed by decades of state tournament runs, championships, and college-bound players. Local fans can also support the Sept. 24 St. Croix Valley Sports Hall of Fame banquet in Stillwater and watch the community's strong Tackle Cancer fundraising and new girls flag football program continue to grow.
   

• Sketchbook Session (okstate.edu subscription) — Local Stillwater artist Kathy Shann will lead a free Sketchbook Session on Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 6–8 p.m., giving residents a relaxed space to draw together. Teens and adults can bring their own sketchbooks, explore ink-and-watercolor still lifes, and pick up new techniques while connecting with fellow creatives; advance sign-up is requested.
