1. Chick-fil-A Opening 2 New Twin Cities Restaurants In October (patch.com) — Stillwater residents can look forward to a new Chick-fil-A opening later this month on Washington Avenue, bringing about 100 jobs and full dine-in, drive-thru, and delivery service. The Stillwater restaurant will feature an indoor playground, participate in food donation programs, and offer a free entrée or kids meal to customers in cow-themed attire on opening day.
2. Guiding documents for Lumberjack Landing still in the works (hometownsource.com) — Stillwater officials are still shaping the mission and use rules for Lumberjack Landing, the new riverfront park and community space planned at North Aiple Park just north of downtown. The Parks and Recreation Commission is refining guiding documents before sending them to the City Council, while smaller renovation projects and a major private donation slowly move the long-delayed project forward.
3. Educator Claudia Hernandez Supports Multilingual Students (stcroixvalleymag.com) — Families in the Stillwater Area Public Schools district might want to know about Claudia Hernandez, who has become a key advocate for multilingual Hispanic and Latino students at Oak-Land Middle School in Lake Elmo. Since 2017 she's worked districtwide to bridge language, economic, and technology gaps, connecting families with conferences, sports, and even basic needs support while helping students become confident leaders.
4. Football: Ponies fall short against Mounds View (hometownsource.com) — Stillwater Ponies fans saw a tough homecoming loss as Mounds View rallied late to win 18-13 at Stillwater Area High School, snapping a long losing streak to Stillwater. Despite leading most of the night and strong performances on both sides of the ball, the Ponies couldn't stop a final Mustangs drive and now turn their focus to hosting Woodbury in a key sub-district matchup.
5. Marine Community Library Has Been Volunteer-Led for 15 Years (stcroixvalleymag.com) — Marine on St. Croix's volunteer-run community library is thriving 15 years after residents stepped in to save it, with 80 volunteers keeping it open and vibrant. The story also recalls how Stillwater Area Schools' closure of Marine Elementary in 2017 spurred locals to create Marine Village School, underscoring the region's strong, do‑it‑yourself approach to education and community spaces.
