
I have spotted a pair of barred owls in different areas around Long Lake. Last year there were 3 that would hang out together, and this year I'm only seeing 2. That leads me to think that these may be fledglings from a local owl pair. Once you hear their "skreee", slow down and look for them. They seem to be quite comfortable with being observed.
Today I watched the two call back and forth while the crows circled. Finally the crows were so annoying that the owls flapped into more dense cover in some trees nearby this photo. They are amazing to watch!
