Body Found In St. Croix River After Witness Heard Cry For Help

Authorities are calling it an "accidental drowning."

ST. CROIX FALLS, WI — The body of a 20-year-old man was recovered Saturday after a witness reported hearing calls for help coming from the St. Croix River. Just after 7 a.m. on June 9 the St. Croix Falls Police Department responded to Lions Park.

Just before 10:20 a.m. emergency responders recovered the man's body from the river. He was located approximately 20 to 30 feet from shore in about 8 feet of water, according to police.

At this time authorities believe it was an accidental drowning.
