Body Of Stillwater Man, 20, Found After Going Missing Near Bar

George Musser, 20, was reported missing after he was last seen leaving a downtown Stillwater bar just after 2 a.m. on Saturday.

STILLWATER, MN — The body of a Stillwater man who went missing early Saturday morning was found on Christmas Day in nearby Baytown Township.

George Musser, 20, was reported missing after he left Brian's Bar & Grill on Main Street in downtown Stillwater just after 2 a.m. on Saturday. Temperatures were below zero at the time.

His car was parked near the bar he was at. Musser's wallet was found outside a different restaurant close by, and his keys were found near a dumpster, the Star Tribune reported.

Musser had no coat, just a flannel shirt, dark jeans, and brown shoes. It's not clear where he was headed at the time of his death.

Emily Dalbec, Musser’s relative, wrote in a Facebook post that "I am heartbroken to share that the police have found his body."

"Please pray for our family. Thank you to everyone who searched, shared, and prayed. We are forever grateful for your support."

Friends and loved ones held a candle-lit vigil Monday night in front of the Stillwater Lift Bridge to honor Musser. Members of his graduating class from Stillwater Area High School raised a banner for him downtown.

Musser was attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $45,000 for Musser's funeral expenses.

"We appreciate all the wonderful volunteers that came out on Christmas to help search for George," Stillwater police said.

Stillwater police gave special thanks to other agencies that also assisted with the search, including Stillwater Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Oak Park Heights Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"Our prayers are with all those family and friends that knew and loved George. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time," Stillwater police added.

The investigation into Musser's death is ongoing.
