In cognitive therapy most people are given a treatment plan to change the behavior. In this plan a client may be given suggestions on how to develop new rituals. Through these assignments the client will be encouraged to change the behavior and self talk. They start with the external results instead of the internal self-talk or processing behind the talk.

The NLP Model of Communication shows the clear map that clients are using to drive their relationships, careers and family. The technology I use in accessing information is much like a virus protection program has in a computer. The NLP techniques use distinctive creative linguistic (clients language, matched by practitioner's) patterns that will assist the client in going through their files and purging what no longer serves them or help them re-file what value, belief, attitude or feeling that needs to be changed. As in a virus scan, the original processing/operating program remains intact, nothing is lost. The client processes much clearer, faster and more affectively their thoughts and feelings, thus the actions are intentional and understood.
As a certified practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), I assist a client discover how they are internally processing their thoughts, feelings and actions.

NLP was developed in the late 70's with two scientists, Richard Bandler and John Grinder.
"They wanted to discover why certain therapists could dealwith their clients and get very rapid results where other therapistsseem to take months and years.
In doing this they discovered that there are certain mentalprocesses we all go through to make decisions and to make changes.
If someone (anyone) knows anothers process for making changesthey just have to conform to that process and change will occur. It's essentially having the road map to someones mind. With ityou can guide the person to do a whole myriad of things without the stresses we all go through to make decisions and to make changes." (by JJ Ellis)
In Animals in Translation, Grandin and Johnson write: "We humans tend to think of emotions as dangerous forces that need to be strictly controlled by reason and logic. But that's not how the brain works. In the brain logic and reason are never separate from emotion. Even nonsense syllables have an emotional charge, either positive or negative. Nothing is neutral."
