It's Event Time!

Spring and summer is a busy time for the Chamber of Commerce with events like this past weekend's Rivertown Art Festival and the upcoming Summer Tuesdays.

I’m transitioning back into my work mindset after a beautiful weekend spent at the Chamber of Commerce’s 30th annual Rivertown Art Festival.

Ok… beautiful might be a stretch. Despite some less-than-ideal-for-an-art-fair weather, I was happy to see that this event featuring nearly 200 artists was quite well attended (click here to view some event photos). Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came downtown for the festivities!

Now on to the next event.

We are now in full-swing planning mode for our eighth season of Summer Tuesdays! For those of you that aren’t aware, Summer Tuesdays is a great community event offering a marketplace, food and entertainment for the whole family. The event has gained popularity over the years and is typically held in Lowell Park, downtown Stillwater.

This year, due to possible construction occurring in the park, event will take place at the Historic Washington County Courthouse, just a few short blocks from Main Street on 101 West Pine Street.

There are a couple of other exciting changes we have planned as well, including a carnival with games and prizes, and doubling the number of musical performances with both an amateur and professional stage each night. We have had to eliminate the movie portion of the event because of sound issues into the later hours for residents of that neighborhood.

Summer Tuesdays will be held for six weeks beginning Tuesday, July 12 through August 16. We are currently seeking volunteers, a variety of supporting sponsors, talented local amateur and seasoned musical performers, market exhibitors and food vendors. For vendor applications, more information and updates visit www.summertuesdays.com or follow Summer Tuesdays on Facebook.
