Kids and Art: What Young Artists Have to Say—Part 1

Emma is in Grade 10 at and has been taking art classes from me at AbbanArt Academy for two years. 

What do you like about art class?

It really helps with my art skills. It's relaxing and a break from the rest of my day.

In what ways does it make your life better and how does it make you feel about yourself?

It helps me learn that you can learn to do anything if you practice enough.

When there are so many other things you could be doing as a young person, what makes you want to do art?

I love art and don't get a chance to do it in school. Since it's not too demanding I can also do other things.

What do you find hard? How does it challenge you?

I find it hard to draw faces but it helps to make you really focus on small details.

What would you say to parents who have never taken their kids to art class?

Its fun and you might as well try it - chances are you'll like it anyways.  

And what do you say, mom?

I enjoy Emma having quiet time to focus on something other than friends, school and social media.
