Mary Franson, are you saying 'Let the animals eat cake?'

Representative Mary Franson compares people on food stamps to wild animals.

Representative Mary Franson:

It is pretty hard to believe that a public official would make a statement comparing people who use food stamps to wild animals. I am sure that no filthier words have ever been spoken in public, by an elected official, it is on par with "Let them eat cake."

Myself, I have never been in the situation of having to use food stamps. Yet it seems to me that since the wealthy in this country pay taxes at a lower rate than the poor and, the State of Minnesota Department of Revenue issued a report in 2011 confirming that the state's tax system is regressive, maybe we could be generous enough to help people through hard times with some food.
I demand an apology on this, the comment is hurtful, distasteful and condescending.

Please help the Minnesota government remain "sane," and help me demand they use reason, sound judgement and good sense in both their actions and words. Write to Mary Franson and demand a public apology and retraction.
