Where can Henderson go?
Former Cretin star, familiar with the Suburban East and Ponies football program, was once a top recruit. Now he is just trying to find a place to go where his program won't be penalized.
Seantrel Henderson has had quite the roller coaster ride.
For those who don’t know Henderson, he played tackle for the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders, graduating in 2009, and was widely regarded as the nation’s top recruit in 2010.
He originally chose to attend the University of Southern California (USC), but the school was hit hard by the NCAA as the Trojans football program was removed from any bowl games for two seasons.

This was moved to the public eye when Heisman Trophy running back, Reggie Bush, was said to have received improper benefits from the school to come and play for USC.
Shortly after the NCAA came down hard on USC, Henderson decided that it was best to stay away from the Trojans, was removed from his letter of intent and enrolled at the University of Miami (FL).

Evidently, Henderson just can’t get away from it.
Now Miami is looking directly at the barrel of the NCAA and there were initial rumors that the Hurricanes infractions were so bad, that they would be given the “Death Penalty,” of collegiate football penalties. That would most likely mean no football for Miami.
“The U,” as it is often recognized as, can thank Nevin Shapiro, who was incarcerated for his actions in a $930 million Ponzi scheme. He elected to conduct interviews that totaled 100 hours with Yahoo! Sports.
Shapiro told Yahoo! that he provided thousands of dollars worth of benefits to at least 72 athletes starting from 2002 to 2010.
Although it is really hard to feel for a student-athlete who gets a free education, perhaps the case can be made for Henderson.
He chose to teat up his letter to USC because he wanted to get away from all the infractions only to be in the middle of a hurricane, pun intended, of possibly more severe infractions.
Granted, we do not know if Henderson has ever received benefits himself, but it is fair to not flag him since he has never been accused.
On top of that, Randy Shannon was fired as head coach of the Hurricanes and there were rumors that Henderson would transfer from Miami, because he chose Miami because Shannon was the coach.
Since, current coach Al Golden has downplayed Henderson going on the move, but now it is believed the 345-pound tackle is on the mend with an apparent back injury and could miss the first several games of the 2011 season.
Unfortunately for Henderson, he picked two schools that got into a big mess of NCAA violations. Aforementioned, it is hard to feel for him since it was his choice to go to those schools and it is assumed that most elite college football programs have some sort of violations, just a matter if they have been caught.
Regardless, it has been some bad luck for Henderson and it will be interesting what his future decisions might be as the NCAA progresses with its investigation of the Hurricanes football program.
Question is could Henderson be making his way to Minnesota? A new coaching staff looking to turn around a program that has been in the dumps for quite some time and frankly, one of the laughing stocks of the Big Ten.
Does anybody who follows Stillwater football remember Henderson from his playing days with Cretin? Would he be a welcome addition to the Gophers if he ever decided to transfer?
