You Love Drama. You do.

Summer Tuesdays, Inc. Legacy Member Erin Bachmann blogs about the behind the scenes of planning events in Stillwater. Its not just an advertisement. Its an awesome round-about advertisement.

I'm back! Well I never left, but as most of my previous posts have not been controversial, you may or may not have read them. But it is hard to get people's attention with all of the constant advertising (good and bad) that are being fired at us constantly. We have no patience for things anymore. If you can't make me love, hate, cry or laugh in 15 seconds or less, your message is worthless.

I blog because I want people to know about what a great organization Summer Tuesdays, Inc. is, and to let them know that a cool event is coming up.

But people don't like reading only about sunshine and rainbows. They like the dirt. They like to roll around in it like animals. Hot debate? They LOVE it. People like to rant and rave about why it is their opinion that matters and why the opposition is evil.

These are things people secretly love, and they are waiting with bated breath to see who “liked” their post. And then there are people that read every single post and thread, but don't comment, but they all talk about the comments in public as if they are a part of it with extreme opinions. You know exactly who you are in this soap opera...All that dirty drama that we claim to hate, but secretly love.

But you know what I write about? Sunshine and rainbows. (Both of which are arranged for a Stillwater Harvest Fest on October 13 and 14th).

I write about beer.

And chili-cook-offs. And wine. And giant pumpkins. And giant pumpkins smashing. And scarecrow contests. And pie-eating contests. And kid's costume parades. All that stuff that makes us smile, and forget for even a moment, that good stuff in the world really does exist. (But if you are still looking for some controversy, I'll make up a rumor that one of our legacy members mooned a ferry boat during a meeting the other day. But I can't say as to which one – legacy member or boat or meeting.)

So please, dust yourselves off, and come enjoy some sunshine and rainbows on October 13 and 14th in Lowell Park. Www.harvestfeststillwater.com
