Cottage Grove 'Car Prowler' Caught In The Act: Police

Police said the suspect, a 20-year-old from Cottage Grove, had a loaded handgun at the time of the arrest.

COTTAGE GROVE, MN — Police say they arrested a 20-year-old Cottage Grove man for multiple thefts from vehicles after a "very observant citizen" witnessed the car prowler in the act Sunday night. The thefts happened in the area Hyde Ave and 76th Street, authorities said.

Cottage Grove police told Patch they received a call from the witness Monday around 12:30 a.m. The suspect had a loaded handgun at the time of the arrest, according to authorities. He was transported to the Washington County Jail and formal charges are pending. If anything has been stolen from your car recently, police ask that you call (651) 439-9381 and ask to speak with an officer.
