Cottage Grove Man Premeditated The Murder Of His Wife: Charges

A Twin Cities man has been charged with trying to find a hitman online to kill his wife before killing her himself and staging a suicide.

STILLWATER, MN — County Attorney Pete Orput Friday announced that a Washington County Grand Jury has issued an indictment charging Stephen Carl Allwine with the first degree premeditated murder of his wife on Nov. 13, in Cottage Grove.

Allwine had his initial appearance on the new charges Friday, according to a news release.

Judge B. William Ekstrum set unconditional bail at $2,000,000 and conditional bail at $1,000,000.

Orput stated, “We have great faith in the grand jury process and those people serving on the grand jury exercising their civic responsibility.”
