East Metro Symphony Orchestra and Woodbury Dance Center present Dancing with Sugarplums
Dancing with Sugarplums: A Nutcracker Suite of Classical and Contemporary Dance
The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO), in collaboration with the Woodbury Dance Center (WDC), is delighted to present a fresh take on Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, a holiday favorite, Sunday, December 7th at 3 p.m. at the Stillwater Senior High School, 5701 Stillwater Blvd N, Stillwater, MN 55082.
The Nutcracker ballet has long been a beloved holiday staple, featuring the sumptuous music of Tchaikovsky and the fanciful story of a family’s festive Christmas Eve party, special gifts, and extraordinary dreams, all told through ballet dancing. For the first time WDC and EMSO will present a Nutcracker featuring not only classical ballet, but contemporary, tap, and other styles of dance as well. WDC dancers will be accompanied on stage by EMSO’s full symphony orchestra.
Admission to this wonderful holiday event is $10 for Adults, $6 for Seniors, and those 18 and under are free. Presale tickets will be available beginning December 1st at the WDC front desk, see their website (www.woodburydance.com) for their location and operating hours, or through EMSO members. Following the performance an informal reception, with cookies, will provide opportunity to meet these talented amateur musicians and dancers.

East Metro Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra based in Woodbury, led by music director and conductor, Dr. Elizabeth Prielozny Barnes and concertmaster Michal Sobieski. The orchestra performs four to five concerts per season in the Twin Cities east metropolitan area, in collaboration with local artists and organizations.
